Berlin, Germany. Arrival and great dinner.

Day 1.

Our trip to Berlin came about because my husband had a business trip that took him there, and so I got to go along to do some sight seeing while he worked. I know there is a lot of history in Berlin, but always thought of it as a very drab dull looking city, so I was hoping this visit would teach me otherwise!

We arrived in the early afternoon via Tegel airport and got a taxi to our hotel, The Intercontinental Berlin which proved to be in a great location.  After getting settled into our spacious room we decided to go for a quick walk to stretch our legs and for me to figure out where my walking tour for the next day was going to start from, which turned out to be just down the street by the Zoo Station.  On our way out of the hotel we bumped into two of my husband’s business colleagues, and so arranged to meet them 1 hour later for dinner.

Dinner was at a lovely German Restaurant called Leibniz Klause (Leibnizstrasse 46) that was recommended by our hotel concierge and was just a short taxi ride from the hotel.  With a beer to drink, I went all out German and ordered Pork Knuckle with cabbage for my main course (I just love the crisp crackling on the outside) and this one was a very nice size, not too big as they sometimes can be.

Then for dessert I got to try both a bit of my husband’s Apple Strudel, one of my favourites as you will find if you read some of my other blogs, and one of our friends dessert which was a Crepe Suzette.  All were excellent and this was a fabulous meal to start out this trip to Berlin.
